The International Meridian Circle Program (IMCP) is pleased to announce that the 2025 IMCP Space Weather School will be held in Hainan, China, from November 10 to 16, 2025.
Building on the success of the 2023 IMCP School, we are delighted to continue offering advanced educational and training courses and exercises on the fundamental physical processes of the solar-terrestrial environment and geospace science, which are the core research areas of IMCP. The school will feature introductory lectures on instruments and their science applications delivered by international experts, mini research projects guided by the lecturers and assistants, and a full-day field trip to world-class observatories on the island such as the Sanya Incoherent Scatter Radar site. The island is particularly rich in observational and research resources for studying the low-latitude ionosphere and upper and middle atmosphere.
IMCP, a geospace scientific initiative, collaborates with international institutions, organizations, and individual researchers to investigate space weather phenomena, drivers, and physical processes. IMCP employs global networks of ground-based observatories and other observational and modeling platforms to carry out its mission. As part of this mission, IMCP is committed to fostering collaboration among the international space weather science community and to educating and training the next generation of scientists.
The school is now accepting applications, which are due on August 15. Applicants must submit a concise resume that includes their research and academic background, publications, and a statement of research interest.
