The International Meridian Circle Program (IMCP) is pleased to announce that the 2025 IMCP Space Weather School will be held in Hainan, China, from November 10 to 16, 2025. Based on the success of the 2023 IMCP School, it will further advance education and training on the physical processes of so- lar-terrestrial space weather coupling, with a particular focus on low-latitude ionospheric research. The school will feature both general and specialized sessions, including lectures and field station-based instruction, aimed at enhancing participants' understanding of ionospheric scintillation phenomena and their impact on radio communications and navigation systems.
The low-latitude equatorial region is a key area for ionospheric irregularities and scintillation phenomena, making it a primary focus of IMCP research. Monitoring and analyzing these processes is crucial not only for scientific progress but also for ensuring the stability of modern technological systems. The 2025 IMP School will bring together leading experts from around the world to provide training on advanced topics such as space weather, low-lati- tude ionospheric observation techniques, theoretical modeling, and data processing methods. This school will help participants stay at the forefront of de- velopments in space physics, deepen their understanding of solar-terrestrial space weather processes- particularly those related to low-latitude iono- spheric environments--and contribute to the development of young scholars in the field of space weather.
The International Meridian Circle Program is a geospace science initiative that attracts participation from international institutions and organizations, aims to explore the phenomena, drivers, and physical processes associated with space weather. IMP employs global networks of ground-based observatories and other observational and modeling platforms to carry out its research. As part of this mission, IMCP is committed to fostering collaboration among the international space weather science community and to educating and training the next generation of scientists. IMCP supports not only their individual scientific research but also encourages them to engage in international cooperation.
The application processes to attend the school is now open and can be accessed at here. The deadline for submitting applications is July 31. Applicants are required to provide a brief resume with information on their research and course study background, publication, and a statement of research interest. Local support, including accommodation (a shared hotel room for 2 students) and meals during the school course session and the forum, will be available for up to 40 selected students. Additionally, if you need support for international travel expenses, please let us know. Please contact Mr. Fang Yang for questions and specific requests at fyang@nssc.ac.cn.
